Matri Prerna Eye Hospital (MPEH), Ranchi, Jharkhand is a premier tertiary eye care institute in eastern India. It was established in 1997 by Dr. Vivek Sahay, a leading ophthalmologist enjoying unparalleled popularity amongst the masses in the region. The achievements of the hospital are chronologically described as follows :

  • In 1998, “Phacoemulsification” technology for cataract surgery was introduced by us for the first time in the state of Bihar.
  • In 1999, “Foldable Intraocular Lens (IOL)” implantation was introduced by us in the state of Bihar.
  • In 2002, a complete glaucoma unit with “Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer (HFA)” & “Nd:YAG Laser System” was introduced.
  • In 2005, “LASIK” refractive surgery was introduced for the first time in the state of Jharkhand & neighbouring states.
  • In 2008, implantation of “Multifocal IOL” was introduced for the first time in the state of Jharkhand parallelly with the rest of India.
  • In 2009, the world’s most trusted optical biometer, “IOL Master (Carl Zeiss)” was introduced for the first time in Jharkhand.
  • In 2013, the first “Keratoconus” clinic with FS 200 Femto Laser System, iTrace (the world-class aberrometer) & collagen cross-linking (CX3R) was introduced.
  • In the same year, “Blade-Free LASIK” procedure was introduced for the first time in eastern India by procuring the best Femto Laser System, FS 200 (Alcon).

The New Hospital Building

  • In 2015, a piece of land measuring 20,000 square feet was alloted to us in Kokar Industrial Area, Ranchi. A world-class infrastructure abiding to the guidelines of Govt. of India & NABH has been constructed. Work in the new campus was started from 27th May, 2019. The hospital building is having a built-up area of around 50,000 square feet with G 1+5 floors. The new infrastructure is having best in class configuration with centralized air – conditioning system & 5 operation theatres (2 modular OTs with hepa – filter facility & 3 normal standard OTs).
  • Hospital’s alternate power back up requirement is met by 2 high capacity power generators.
  • Lift access is available for patients. MPEH is having high-speed lifts (2 in number).
  • The fire fighting system meets regulatory requirements.
  • Hospital’s water effluence is zero through world-class sewage treatment plant by recycling entire water used in the campus.
  • The hospital is having rain water harvesting system, complying with Govt. of Jharkhand norms.
